How to use it

  1. Type a word, name or date. Letters A to Z and numbers 0 to 9 all have codes.
  2. Pick a style and a direction, and set the length in inches. The line under the design gives its length in millimeters and how wide each dit is.
  3. Check it on the wrist, forearm, collarbone and spine, below the design.
  4. Press Download SVG for a file at that length, or Print at actual size. Share link copies a link that opens the same design.

Every mark at its true length

A dit (the short signal) is 1 unit long and a dah (the long one) is 3. Marks inside a letter are 1 unit apart, letters are 3 apart and words are 7. That is the timing ITU-R M.1677-1 sets. Every style here keeps it, so the design has the rhythm of the sound it stands for.

What is I love you in morse code?

It is three words, I, LOVE and YOU, with a word gap of 7 units between each. Open I love you in the generator to see it drawn and set its size.

How long is a morse code tattoo?

As long as you choose: set the length from 1 to 8 inches. At the same length, a longer phrase has smaller marks, and the generator shows how wide each dit gets.

Can I get a name or a date in morse code?

Yes. Morse has codes for A to Z and 0 to 9, so names and dates both work. Put a space between the parts of a date, such as 6 14 2019, and each part gets its own word gap.

What file do I give my tattoo artist?
